Reasons for being a good teacher and the characteristics

In a community where many parents do not care about their children and where drug and alcohol abuse play a higly important role. In a community where many children do not go to school, because either they do not have any school uniform or their parents do not care about them. These are all things I had to face while I was growing up. I did not have much to eat and did not enjoy the priviledges my "friends" enjoyed, but one two things kept me going, our Father who is in heaven and my dream to become a teacher. Not just a teacher to teach, but a teacher who give back to his own community and a teacher who play his part in transforming his own community into a community that is associated with hope, dignity, unity, respect ad forgiveness. I want to be a cher, because I believe that I have a passion for children and seeing a child uses their potential give me a smile on my face and a twinkle in my eye.

• A teacher should be someone who leads with dignity and respect.
• Someone who believes in themselves and in the potential of the learners.
• A good teacher is someone with a passion for what his doing and who will never moan about something at work.
• A good teacher is also hardworking and he/ she never back down from any challenge.
• A good teacher is therefore also goal driven and enthusiastic about what he/ she believes in.

I believe that I can be a great teacher. Not just because I learn so much at CPUT, but because I believe in myself and I know what I am capable of.
